Miami’s Epic Hotel Stars in Burn Notice Season Finale

On Thursday, March 4, fans of USA Network’s Burn Notice set in Miami are encouraged to tune in to see Kimpton’s EPIC Hotel star in its debut role for television.

Portions of the show’s third season finale were not only filmed on location at EPIC, but the hotel plays a pivotal role in the episode’s plot which involves a world-class terrorist threatening to detonate a bomb in Miami. Burn Notice is an action-packed original series about a blacklisted spy who uses his unique skills and training to help people in desperate situations, while avoiding getting caught in the crosshairs of those from his past.

Sagamore, The Art Hotel to Host Screening in South Beach

Sagamore, The Art Hotel in Miami Beach will host a complementary screening of, The Company Presents, a compilation of short videos by 19 contemporary artists that encompass a wide range of subject matter from corporal, action-based performances, to ethereal stop-motion graphics, to dance culture and computer-generated iconography.

The artists chosen for this series were selected for their diversity of form and strength of execution. The engaging video presentation features artists who have shown internationally at important museums and galleries and are currently doing amazing projects worldwide. The program includes Miami artists Jiae Hwang and Nicholas C. Raftig III, who are currently showing in the recently-opened Abstract Cinema and Technology.

Other artists include: Skip Arnold, Ingibjörg Birgisdottir, Jen DeNike, Martin Durazo, Jesse Reding Fleming, Kate Gilmore, Jiae Hwang, David Jones, Annika Larsson, Shana Moulton, Julie Orser, Nicholas C. Raftig III, David Raymond, Mariah Robertson, Jim Roche, Jimmy Joe Roche, Brandon Rosenbluth, Oscar Miguel Santos a.k.a. Sister Mantos, Aaron Garber Maikovska, Julia Sherman and John Sturgeon.

Compiled by, The Company, an LA-based art gallery in Chinatown that shows international artists, has a focus on video and performance art, and has a residency program for curators and artists, is owned by two former Miami residents, Anat Ebgi and Annie Wharton.

Fontainebleau Hotel Miami Beach Lobby Re-Opening

Come November, the grand openings of two high-profile projects will continue Jeffrey Beers’ presence on an international scale. The much anticipated re-opening of Miami Beach’s historic Fontainebleau Hotel will unveil JBI’s restoration and reinterpretation of Morris Lapidus’ iconic lobby with a bow-tie tile floor and the “staircase to nowhere.” Also set to open are the luxurious multi-tiered poolscape and five new restaurants including Alfred Portale’s GOTHAM steakhouse, a two-level space featuring an open expo kitchen and a two story glass-encased wine tower.

Fontainebleau Miami Beach October Opening

I’m really looking forward to the Fontainebleau hotel reopening and I finally have some news about it. Here’s what the release says…

The Fontainebleau Hotel Miami Beach is now planning to do a soft opening on Oct. 18 due to construction delays that forced the hotel to postpone its September reopening. The grand opening will take place Nov. 14, with a Victoria’s Secret fashion show which will be broadcast on CBS.

The Fontainebleau Miami Beach is completing a two-year, $150 million renovation of the original 1954 structure, and has added more rooms and meeting facilities to boost its appeal to convention planners.

Back in April, the Dubai-based Nakheel Hotels invested $375 million and received a 50 percent interest in the hotel.

The Fontainebleau Miami Beach has 1,504-rooms including two new towers, 11 restaurants and lounges, three nightlife venues, a 40,000-square-foot spa with co-ed swimming pools, and an oceanfront pool area.

Fontainebleau has been the resort of choice for many famous Hollywood stars including Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Jackie Gleason, Judy Garland, Milton Berle, Jerry Lewis, Marlene Dietrich, Frank Sinatra and Debbie Reynolds.
