MCO Accessibility Guide for Orlando Families: Wheelchairs, Hidden Disabilities and Sensory Support

For some families, the airport is the most stressful part of the vacation. Orlando International Airport provides multiple accessibility resources, and using them well starts before the flight. The goal is to reduce uncertainty between the aircraft, baggage claim, ground transportation and the drive to the villa.

Ask the airline about wheelchair or boarding assistance in advance

MCO advises travelers who need wheelchair or skycap help to alert the airline provider. Do this before travel so the group understands where assistance begins and ends, especially if a mobility device or medical equipment is checked.

Know about MCO’s hidden-disability and sensory resources

The airport participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program and offers Annie’s Space, a sensory room for travelers with sensory sensitivities and their families. The airport also lists adult changing tables in family/companion care restrooms and service-animal relief areas in all terminals.

Understand the terminal before arranging pickup

Terminal C uses different floor levels from Terminals A and B. If a private car, rideshare or rental vehicle is meeting the group, verify the correct terminal and pickup level before landing so a traveler who needs extra support is not left waiting while drivers circle the airport.

Make the first evening simple

After an accessible airport transfer, do not immediately schedule a grocery expedition and dinner reservation. Use delivery, a simple meal or supplies already arranged so everyone can settle into the villa before the first major outing.

Check current details before you go: Accessibility programs, park rules, hours, fees, transportation procedures and event schedules can change.
